drastically decreasing child sex ratio at birth IS indeed a big worry for
state government..even after implimenting many strict provisions for the same,
state is not enjoying a better position in this..thus the Madhya Pradesh
government has decided to implement the tough provisions of the National
Securities Act (NSA) to punish sonography centres conducting sex determination
tests of foetuses. The state's health minister Narottam Mishra explained,
"The Gwalior district administration has done its own inquiries regarding
the rampant sex determination tests taking place. The revelations are shocking
and that is the reason why the government has decided to take stern, punitive
action against sonography centres."
The matter came to the fore after the annual health survey 2012-13 report
conducted by the Union Census department released last week showed that the sex
ratio at birth in Madhya Pradesh has dropped to a new low at 906 girls per 1000
boys. This is lower than the prevailing 2011 child sex ratio of 912 girls per
1000 boys. It means that lesser girls are being born than the last decade and
the state government suspects sonography centres to be the culprit in the
imbalance.
PRABHAT JHA FACES RED OVER TOMATO COMMENT
The skyhigh rates of tomottoes were enough to furriate the citizens of
India, but BJP's RS MP Prabhat jha had ignited it further by saying that
central government should not be held responsible for the increase in the price
of the red fruit as its a delecacy of the rich and the poor dont eat it!! He
further added that the government has not increased the rate of basic things
like potato , onion, rice or wheat or even LPG...thus all the hoophollah over
tomatto is not right as its just a matter of few weeks and it will come down to
its previous low price soon...
technically Jha may be right in analysing the effect of wheather over the
soaring prices, but he had undoubtably hurt the sentiments of people who are
missing the red fruit from their salad plates and sabzis..
